Documentation Centre

The Dance Documentation Centre was born in 1985, the creation of Claire Destrée and developed by Contredanse, it opened to the public. What better occasion than this anniversary to share this archive of dance with the public; an opportunity also to underline the purpose of archiving at the present time.

The Documentation Centre collects all types of record (books, reviews, press articles, programmes, photos, sound and audio-visual archives, etc.) related to the choreographic creation, as well as the thinking/philosophy and practice of contemporary dance.

These collections are the reflection of a place and a period – the development of modern and contemporary dance in the Communauté française de Belgique (French-speaking Community of Belgium) and elsewhere – and special/most important areas of Contredanse’s research: improvisation, composition, transmission, somatic techniques…

Your welcome evey tuesday, wednesday and thursday between 1pm and 5pm, and by appointment
